Charity Mapletoft

World Classical Music Awards 2021 Grand Prize Winner

Charity Mapletoft, soprano, studied at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

and King’s College London, obtaining an LRAM (distinction), M. Mus. (distinction), B. Mus. (Hons.)

(first-class), LRSM (distinction), DipABRSM (voice, distinction) and DipABRSM (piano, distinction). As

a soloist, she has represented British Youth Opera and sung at such venues as the Queen Elizabeth

Hall, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Usher Hall.

In 2021, Charity performed the roles of Bellezza, Semele and Hora Seconda in Hampstead Garden

Opera’s L’Egisto and went on to win ten prizes in international vocal and music competitions,

including the Grand Prize, as well as First Prize in the Baroque, Modern and Age 26+ categories in the

World Classical Music Awards; First Prize in the Clara Schumann International Music Competition;

Second Prize in the Chicago IMC; Second Prize in the Rising Stars Grand Prix – IMC Berlin; Third Prize

in the North IMC, Stockholm; Bronze Medallist in the Global Music Awards; the New York Regional

Round Chief Executive Award in the OSAKA IMC (semi-finals); Finalist in the Neapolitan Masters IMC;

Semi-Finalist in the NYIOP/Premiere Opera Foundation Competition and Semi-Finalist in the Cesti

Competition.

As a result of the OSAKA IMC prize, Charity’s engagements for 2022 include her debut recital at

Carnegie Hall. Charity will also compete as an OSAKA finalist in Japan later in the year.
